ingredients are center stage
There are countless shows today about food. These shows either feature
- individual chefs (i.e., 30 Minute Meals with Rachel Ray)
- destination dining (i.e., Diners, Drive-ins and Dives)
- contests and competitions (i.e., Iron Chef)
Over time, food television has shifted focus from education to entertainment and travel.
Coast Bites is different. Each episode focuses on a single ingredient. We will visit the food source, be it farm, garden, or at sea to learn where our food comes from. We will then take that ingredient to local eateries to see how they prepare it. Coast Bites is a local story, exploring how our community comes together over meals.
Coast Bites has global appeal. Berries, for example, are grown in several parts of the country. Learning how they are grown and how to prepare has appeal far beyond our local farms. Structuring Coast Bites around the ingredients themselves makes content relevant to viewers anywhere similar ingredients are grown.
